Campaign Story

Our Reason Why

For us, music has always been about connection.

It connects us to where we came from, to the people who raised us, and to the people we’ve picked up along the way. Blackbird Sing has always been a family affair — not just because we come from a musical family, but because we’ve literally grown up together, lived life together, and made music together for years. That kind of history changes the way a band sounds and grooves. Roots run deep and People can feel it.

We write about real life. Love, loss, growing up, holding on, and trying to keep on keeping. Most of what we write comes straight out of experience, with just enough fire and color to make it sing. In a lot of ways, these songs have become a soundtrack for coming of age — not just for us, but for the people who’ve been riding with us all this time.

And after years and years of sharing the stage together, we’ve turned many pages and have something real to say. We’ve been through marriage, divorce, growing families, losing family members, losing bandmates, health struggles, a pandemic, seasons of doubt, and seasons of rebirth and finding our faith again. There were plenty of times it would have been easier to stop. But somewhere along the way, we made the unspoken decision to keep going as long as the good Lord allows.

We’re Blackbird Sing, and this is our fundraising campaign.

Up Til Now

Over the years, we’ve written more than 40 songs and released a full-length record and three EPs: our debut Enemies From Years of Loving in 2013, Cinco in 2016, Adios Yesterday in 2019, and Hindsight is 20/21 a few years later. Our songs have gotten airplay on KHYI the range, including “Hey Jealousy” and “Si Se Va.” with “Hey Jealousy” being in the top 10 most requested for several weeks upon its release.

We are a Texas band at heart and have played events and venues all over Texas like Riley’s Tavern, Magnolia Motor Lounge, The Executive Surf Club, Love and War in Texas, and Sam’s Burger Joint, just to name a few. Last year we recorded a live studio performance at the Texas Music Café in Waco, and have become festival regulars at the Texas Music Revolution out in McKinney, and Dia de los Muertos Fest in our hometown San Antonio. We’ve also had the chance to share stages with legendary artists and friends like Mickey and the Motorcars, Black Lillies, Dirty River Boys, Frank Turner, Texas Tornados, and Two Tons of Steel.

The Next Step

This next batch of songs feels like the best we’ve ever made. There is a greater sense of maturity and intention within the band as a whole. With miles of road behind us comes wisdom and a better understanding for the sake of the songs. We’re just telling our story the best way we know how — with a little grit, a little heart, and a little spice for good measure.

To bring this next project to life the right way, we’ve partnered with Edgewater Music Group. We already have major-label distribution lined up, which means this music has a real path to go farther than anything we’ve done before.

The Challenge

But making real moves in music is expensive, especially as an independent band. Recording, production, mixing, mastering, visuals, promotion, and release costs add up fast. And like a lot of bands, we’ve been carrying as much of that weight ourselves as we can.

That’s why we’re asking for your support.

Perks

This is a donation-based campaign, and in exchange for your support, there are rewards for people who want to come along for the ride — things like early access to the new music, exclusive merch, a copy of the new record, private performances, the chance to sit in on the recording process, and even opportunities to be credited as an executive producer.

How You Can Help

It’s also important to know this is an all-or-nothing campaign. If we don’t hit the fundraising goal, we won’t be able to move forward the right way.

So if you believe in songs that tell the truth, in music that brings people together, and in bands that have been through the fire and still have something worth saying, we’d be honored to have your support.

Thank You!

Thank you for listening. Thank you for believing in independent Texas music. And thank you for helping bring the next chapter of Blackbird Sing to life. And for always “El Amor Sigue”
